Firm History
Mathis, Riggs and Prather, Professional Service Cooperation is a successor of Shelbyville law firms that can be traced back to 1920s.
The firm as it exists today was formed on Jan 1, 1987 when Lewis Mathis, Sherman Riggs, and Don Prather joined forces and located the firm at 500 Main Street, Suite 5, Shelbyville, Kentucky.
Combining the practices of the three lawyers gave the firm broad experience in Real Estate law, Litigation and Corporate law. Although a General Practice firm, these three specialties continue to be the focus of the firm.
On May 1, 2002, Nathan Riggs, son of Sherman Riggs, joined the firm as an associate. His keen intelligence, enthusiasm and sense of humor have made him a good edition to the firm.
The support staff is Mary Ellen White, Real Estate Paralegal; Paula McClain, Administrative Assistant; and Bonnie Slaughter, Office Manager. Their dedication and hard work keeps the office running smoothly.
